Credit Card Reform 2010 - Why Important

In May of last year, members of the Office of Thrift Supervision, the National Credit Union Administration, and the FED voted on new credit card policies for 2010. As part of President Obama’s campaign to restore the economy, new regulations have been formed that attempt to protect you from falling farther behind with your debt.

Why is this important

Whether or not you have a positive credit experience, you should already know that there has been a problem with many credit issuers. Actually, credit card policies are designed to make you pay as much as possible, even if the contract is reasonable. After all, it is a business. Unfortunately, though, these practices are not always used responsibly by creditors. These policies are designed to keep you responsible, but many companies have used unfair and somewhat sneaky practices to get you to pay more for common mistakes. New credit card reform 2010, however, institutes new policies that prohibit credit card companies from behavior that will continue to damage your credit and force you into a spiral of penalty and fees from which you can never recover.
